Two elite defense with the two best quarterbacks in the game, and only one is going through. The Baltimore defense leads the league in points allowed per game at 16.1, a point ahead of the Chiefs at second. The edge at defense narrowly goes to the Ravens, and this year I also believe Lamar Jackson has been much better than Patrick Mahomes. Despite Patrick Mahomes' 4183 yards compared to Jackson's 3678, Mahomes has played very subpar this year. He has thrown 14 interceptions (tied 4th in the league) while Jackson has thrown half that at 7. Don't count out the guy who has already won 2 rings at the age of 28, but with the edge at defense and the most important position in football, the Baltimore Ravens will win this game.
Ravens win.
The Lions are playing with "house money", and have absolutely nothing to lose. They lose, and the media says it was expected. But if they win, then they are the Cinderella story that made it to the Super Bowl. On the other hand many expect the Niners to not just make the Super Bowl, but win it. For the Lions it really feels like a coin toss on who could win.
The running back production has been fairly equal on both sides, with McCaffrey's 1459 yards and David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs combined 1960 yards. Despite tight end Sam LaPorta being a rookie, he has shown to be amongst the elite tight ends and not far behind George Kittle. Jared Goff and Brock Purdy are both playing well, Nick Bosa and Aidan Hutchinson being elite pash rushers. In many ways, the Lions and 49ers are similar. It may come down to the elite Lions offensive line or their poor pass defense.
I think the Niners more overall talent will still edge out the Lions, but the final score will almost certainly be within a field goal.
Niners win.
